Structural Challenges Addressed by Epics DAO
While open-source software is indispensable as a foundation for society and technology, Epics DAO recognizes that its maintenance and long-term continuity are structurally unstable.
This instability does not stem from a lack of value or significance. In reality, substantial work is being carried out and important contributions are continuously made, yet these efforts are difficult to visualize, leading to fragmented evaluation and engagement.
When engagement cannot be sustained, technical debt and maintenance burdens accumulate, ultimately undermining the sustainability of the foundation itself. Epics DAO takes this cycle as a structural problem and uses it as a starting point for rethinking how such systems should function.
Design Philosophy of Buidlers Guild
Buidlers Guild is designed as one concrete implementation addressing these structural challenges.
In competitive card games, a deck only becomes effective when different types of cards—such as Magic, Equipment / Tools, and Monsters—are combined. No single category is sufficient on its own; strategy emerges only when distinct roles complement one another.
The three roles in Buidlers Guild—Dev, Degen, and Investor—are intentionally mapped onto this card structure.
Each role differs in nature and motivation, yet the system cannot function if any one of them is missing.
Each role differs in nature and motivation, yet the system cannot function if any one of them is missing.
Cards are not granted as rewards or created for speculative purposes. They are structural elements that demonstrate how different roles function through combination. Just as a deck only works when Magic, Equipment / Tools, and Monsters are used together, Dev, Degen, and Investor are also incomplete in isolation.
Through the presence of cards, it becomes structurally visible—not merely explained—where each role takes effect and how it gains meaning through interaction with others. Buidlers Guild is designed on the premise that this relationship exists from the outset.
